Taco N Madre Taqueria Y Cevicheria: A Hidden Gem in St. Paul

My fiancee and I got dinner here with a couple friends and they said they love going here. So, we gave it a shot. The menu was way larger than I expected and I could come back several more times and not touch a majority of what's on there. I got the Burrito Bandero and it was excellent with a huge portion size. I paid for my friends' and fiancee's meals. I mention that because four entrees and an appetizer came out to a little over sixty something (which was a nice surprise for me). Alcoholic beverages are sold too and we all got a beer. The outdoor seating was nice and it looked like there was plenty of indoor seating too. The ordering system was a little confusing but we sorted it quickly and got our food in a timely manner. Overall, an easy 5 stars from me!

We went Saturday night around 11 pm. I got the tacos Al pastor. They were amazing and super authentic. They also had Spanish karaoke in the side room. Super fun place, will be back.

This is a great spot a bit out of the "typical" Mexican and Latin food district of St. Paul. You'll feel like you're headed into a residential area - and you are. What must have been a corner bar or store back in the day is now serving up great Mexican fare. We were a bit hesitant when we got there given the setting, but the food was top notch. Looked like more of a take out than dine-in spot.

Authentic Mom & Pop place in the GAP neighborhood. Good food! The chef made the Torre De Mariscos without onions especially for us! I would recommend the Birria Tacos-the slow roasted beef inside is so tasty!

Restaurant was clean with friendly staff. You pay when you order and food is brought out to your table. My husband was a little concerned with the price BUT was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food we got. Portions are very generous and everything was delicious! Will be back when I’m in the area!

I've eaten at every taqueria in the TC - have lived in Denver, NYC and Houston... and MADRE is HANDS DOWN the BEST ... I have had ANYWHERE. I was just in La Paz and I was missing Madre LOL! I take my crew there after work for $2 Tacos - order a big plate and celebrate an awesome day of work with my homies. (my #1 choice: BUSCHE AND LENGUA) ... EXCUISITE!!!! (edit: I discovered them because they were the only taqueria that was open late when I finish my gigs. I couldn't believe how superior they were to the other neighborhood taquerias!)

Food was on point. My friend and I had the birria tacos. House salsas were great. I ordered a coke, never received. The lady working seemed annoyed that we were even there. She took the order by saying "what do you want?" That was it. Gave the order, she dropped it, minus the coke, at the table and we never saw her again. I would go back for the food. It was really good. Maybe be a tiny bit more polite?
